Hatha yoga relaxes, strengthens, dissolves tension & blockages, increases flexibility, tones, massages, helps control weight & regulates all the bodily functions. It is a gift to all who take to part, however, it takes time to become familiar with this unique system & learn how to adapt it to suit you.
Hatha yoga does work wonders, but for beginners, one class will sometimes not give you a complete indication of this. Give yourself at least 10 classes to see & feel what Hatha yoga can do for you. Practice regularly & you will definitely see & feel positive results.
Yoga Guidelines
Don’t eat for 2-3 hrs before practicing yoga.
If you have any health problems, check with your doctor for advice before practicing.
If you feel pain while practicing, don’t press any further.
Don’t push beyond your limits. Yoga is not a competition.
You may feel lethargic for the first few weeks of yoga. This is because yoga eliminates toxins from your body. Persevere & this fatigue will soon disappear as your body becomes internally cleansed & revitalized.
If you are menstruating, have high blood pressure or serious eye & ear problems, avoid upside down poses (legs above head). If menstruating, work lightly & gently & avoid strong poses especially twists & abdominal exercises.
If you are sick try to stay at home & rest for your health & everyone else’s.
2-3 yoga sessions a week are recommended to keep your body fit & healthy. One is better than none! If you have difficulty during the class, the teacher can help you to either modify the exercise or give you a more suitable alternative.
In the beginning you may have trouble following some of the breathing directions. Don’t worry – Just relax and breathe naturally. Don’t hold your breath. Good breathing will happen naturally in time.
Drink plenty of water an hour before and after the class.
